Isolated M / LGR

****************************************

The Isolated M is another favorite group of mine. Of course, I had never even heard of it when I first joined Mensa in the LA area. I had received the monthly GLAAM, with its over 2,000,000 monthly activities. Naturally, I attended some of these events, being interested in meeting some of the 10,000,000 Mensans in the LA area.

But, that all changed when I moved to southern Japan. I was the ONLY member in my entire city, probably the entire island, and for all I knew, the only M in all of Japan. Shortly after my move, I received my first LGR (Little Green Rag as it is affectionately called.)

Then, I learned that Mensa was indeed a global group, with members in many far flung areas. Now, I have to say that I look forward to the LGR in my mail box every month, and read it cover to cover. I have even had an occasional piece published in their fine pages.

Special note for Isolated Mensans in areas of the world where you can not obtain US dollars!

I have deposited a few extra dollars for such members as a sort of scholarship. People who can not obtain US Dollars at a reasonable rate (i.e. to get $10 costs $20, or something like that), please contact the Editors. They will deduct your subscription from the fund.

In return, I ask that you send me some small souvenirs from your home country (or current country if living abroad). These could be stamps, coins, postcards, sample food items, local crafts, etc. Nothing of great value, but close to the subscription fee would be appreciated.
