anachronism (4)

(noun) - back + time = a misplacing of persons, events, objects, or customs in historical perspective; a person or a thing that is chronologically out of place, especially one from the past that is in the present. Anachronistic is an adjective form and anachronistically is an adverb form. Note: there is an interesting group called the Society for Creative Anachronisms, which practices a medieval lifestyle.

asynchronous (3)

(adj.) - not + together + time = not synchronous; when used in computers and communications, it refers to a signal which does not require the other device to communicate with it during transmission. Sometimes this is used to refer to email (vs. synchronous telephone calls or real time chat). Asynchronously is the adverb form.

chronic (3)

(adj.) - from the word = of long duration, continuing, or by habit. In medicine it means a problem you have had for a long time (vs. acute, which is a new or short-term problem).

chronic fatigue syndrome (5)

(noun) - from the word + fatigue syndrome = a group of symptoms including fatigue, mental dysfunction, and sometimes fever usually affecting people between the ages of 20 and 40.

chronicle (3)

(noun) - annals = a time ordered list of historical events. Can also be used as a verb meaning to record an event in a chronicle, or to list something. Chronicler is the noun form for a person who does this.

chronological (2)

(adj.) - time + reason = arranged in order of the time they happened.

chronology (4)

(noun) - time + speak = a list of events over time.

chronometer (4)

(noun) - time + measure = an extremely precise clock or watch.

chronotherapy (5)

(noun) - time + treat medically = the treatment of a sleep disorder, such as insomnia, by changing sleeping and waking times attempting to reset a person's biological clock.

geosynchronous (4)

(adj.) - earth + together + time = geostationary or a satellite which remains in place overhead.

synchronized swimming (3)

(noun) - together + time + swimming = swimming where one or more swimmers are synchronized with music producing changing patterns.

synchronous (3)

(adj.) - together + time = happening at exactly the same time, recurring at exactly the time, having the same period; also in telecommunications, a signal which must receive a timing signal or reply from another signal. Sometimes used to refer to a teleconference, telephone call or Internet chat. Synchronously is the adverb form.
