When using the superlative form of adjectives, there are certain rules we must follow.
The superlative form refers to three or more items.
When we use the superlative form, we almost always use the word the
The superlative form is inclusive, that is, the item being compared is part of the group. Since it is part of the group, we often find words like among, in, of, and within associated with it.

Superlative: My index finger is my strongest finger.
Comparative: My right hand is strongest. (I only have two hands.)
Superlative: My index finger is my stronger finger. (I have more than two fingers!)

Einstein is considered to be smartest man ever. (We need to use the in this case.)

Going to a hot spring spa is among my most favorite recreational activities.
Going to a hot spring spa is my most favorite of all other recreational activities. (Since this is inclusive, we can not say of all other.)
