an enclosed building or shed, usually with plastic sheeting or glass, used for growing or protecting plants, especially in cold weather
Example(s):
The winter snows were so severe that all the greenhouses were destroyed and the people had to rebuild them in the spring.

Note: Sometimes the term hothouse is used, but a hothouse is usually kept at a higher temperature for the growing of tropical plants or raising crops in very cold weather.
